Community Outreach Committee
This committee, chaired by Kevin MacKenzie with HFF, provides volunteer opportunities to our members through local nonprofits who currently are not receiving professional assistance or funds through our Community Impact Initiatives. These nonprofits include Communities in Schools, Crossfire Ministries, Interfaith Housing Coalition, Phoenix House, Transition Resource Action Center, Union Gospel Mission, Vogel Alcove and the Wilkinson Center.

March
March 6, 2010 - A team of 17 TREC volunteers participated in the annual Reverchon Park Roundup. Volunteers helped preserve the proud history of the park by picking up trash and clearing away tree limbs and bushes. read more
March 27, 2010 - On March 27, 2010 TREC volunteers partnered with Union Gospel Mission (UGM) to beautify the Cimarron Place Apartments. Volunteers performed minor landscaping and outdoor beautification work with help from members of UGM's "Discipleship Program". read more

June 26, 2010 - Union Gospel Mission's Annual Games Day was held at Reverchon Park from 7 am to 12 pm. Our team of 22 volunteers helped hand out goodie bags and register over 500 guests. We also assembled and handed out over 500 lunches. Very special thank you to all of our volunteers. The event would not have been a success without you!
July
July 17, 2010 - Phoenix House Clean Up Day was held at 2345 Reagan Street, Dallas TX 75219. We cleaned out gutters, cleaned windows, power washed the roof, swept floors and performed various other cleaning tasks. Thank you to all of the volunteers who came out and battled the heat for a good cause.
August
August 15, 2010 - Wilkinson Center's Annual Back to School Shoe Drive. A team of 11 volunteers helped hand out almost 1,700 pairs of shoes and socks at a local Payless Shoe Store. The children that received the new shoes and socks were very appreciative and so excited to start the new school year! Thanks again to our great volunteers who lended a helping hand.
2009 Accomplishments
September
Over 60 volunteers completed a mentoring program with Communities in Schools. Volunteers were involved in six different schools.
November
Volunteers participated in a donation drive that collected $25,000 in donated items to benef four nonprofits.
December
Volunteer Week at the Wilkinson Center food pantry was December 7th-10th. Over 25 volunteers stocked shelves and assisted 75 families with shopping and bagging groceries.
