The Real Estate Council Young Guns are commercial real estate professionals 35 and under who are driven by a common vision to develop relationships while promoting awareness and involvement in social, political and community issues that affect the city of Dallas. Young Guns membership dues are $300 per year. The numerous benefits of membership include:

2015 Mentor Program Application
The Young Guns select a Foundation Project every year. This year the Young Guns will partner with Genesis Women's Shelter to enabling building updates to be made to create a cleaner, more efficient and welcoming facility for hundreds of women and children victims of family violences. Subcommittees include Fundraising, Design, Marketing/Photo/Video, Volunteer Days and Volunteer Logistics Team.
Goal: To assist those in need through a real estate related construction or renovation project designed to make a lasting impact in the greater Dallas community.
About the Chair: Elias Bahar works for Pritchard Associates.
The Young Guns Education Committee selects a project every year in the Dallas Independent School District. This year, the Young Guns Education Committee will partner with North Dallas High School to transform an un-used classroom into a multi-purpose activity space for teachers and students. Committee members will also be given the opportunity to share their career knowledge and experience with the students of North Dallas High School in a classroom setting. Subcommittees include Construction, Design, Donations and Marketing.
Goal: To make a direct impact in the Dallas Independent School District by utilizing Young Guns expertise to complete a real estate related project and provide students the opportunity to learn about potential careers in the commercial real estate industry.
About the Chair: Brad Cooper works for Independent Bank as a Senior Analyst. He has experience in real estate finance, oil and gas finance, and construction management.
The Real Estate Council Political Action Committee researches, monitors, opposes and promotes local and statewide public policy issues that impact the commercial real estate industry as well as long-term job growth and quality of life in the greater Dallas area. The committee informs and educates the membership about current issues and identifies and endorses candidates for public office following an interview process with candidates. The committee hosts education programs for the membership featuring local, statewide and national issues important to the commercial real estate industry. The Political Action Committee also influences statewide issues through its participation in the Real Estate Councils of Texas state coalition.
Goal: Increase Young Guns awareness and participation in local and statewide public policy issues associated with commercial real estate in great Dallas.
About the Chair: Kellie O'Lear is a Senior Accountant for Jackson-Shaw Company. Kellie is responsible for overseeing and directing all general accounting and control activities as well as preparing financial statements. She joined Jackson-Shaw in 2013 and is actively involved in The Real Estate Council.
Casino Night is the premiere Young Guns event of the year hosted by the Young Guns Committee to raise funds for the annual Foundation Project. The event brings together an average of over 400 young professional delivering a full night of entertainment for a good cause. Committee: Responsible for leveraging relationships in the community to secure sponsorships, in-kind donations, raffle prizes and encourage ticket sales.
Goal: To raise the maximum amount of funds for the Young Guns Foundation Project.
About the Chair: Justin Goertz is a Business Development Executive at Marvin F. Poer and Company. He specializes in property tax planning and minimization strategies. Justin has a communications degree from Texas Lutheran University.
Forum is a unique event highlighting a trending topic within the city of Dallas. Key players discuss the subject matter in a Q&A setting at a venue relevant to the discussion. This event gives Young Guns the chance to get to know Dallas and the industry better, while networking with industry leaders and fellow members. Committee: Research and select a topic, coordinate speakers, plan, market and execute the event and secure sponsorships.
Goal: To inform Young Guns of trending commercial real estate topics and provide them exposure to commercial real estate experts.
About the Chair: Anna Plemons is a marketing coordinator at Perkins + Will.
VIEW FROM THE TOP
View from the Top is an annual education opportunity in which a panel of leading executives from the commercial real estate industry discuss current topics, career history and advice on what it takes to be successful in the industry. Committee: Responsible for making speaker asks, securing sponsorships and encouraging ticket sales.
Goal: To provide Young Guns exposure to successful real estate professionals.
About the Chair: Sara Vilutis works at Phoenix Capital Partners, Ltd, as their Senior Asset Manager. In addition to her primary role, she works with the acquisition team managing relationships with top tier sponsors/developers overseeing the entire life cycle of each asset. Sara graduated from Texas Tech University with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Finance.
Communications/Together we give
Communications works to advance awareness surrounding programs, events and the good works of the Young Guns to The Real Estate Council membership and to the greater Dallas community. Additionally, the committee coordinates the annual Together We Give efforts for the Salvation Army in December.
Goal: To proactively and clearly communicate Young Guns initiatives and successfully coordinate Together We Give.
About the Chair: Allissa Payne is the Marketing Coordinator at Stewart Title Commercial Services. She implements and manages marketing, advertising and public relations initiatives for the organization in the Dallas-Fort Worth market.
The Membership/Membership Engagement committee is accountable for membership retention and involvement. The committee hosts New Member Coffees on a monthly basis to personally reach new members. The committee's members serve as ambassadors for the organization focused on promoting the benefits of membership to young, commercial real estate professionals in the Dallas area.
Goal: To actively recruit and maintain Young Gun members and inform all members of engagement opportunities in The Real Estate Council.
About the Membership Chair: Lauren Pritchard works for Invesco Real Estate as an acquisitions underwriter. Prior to joining Invesco, she worked in loan originations at Prudential Mortgage Capital Company in Atlanta, Georgia then moved to Dallas, Texas. Lauren graduated from Boston University with a degree in Business Administration concentrating in Finance.
About the Membership Engagement Chair: Caitlin Clinton works for Stream Realty Partners where she is responsible for supporting office and industrial acquisitions and development, as well as supporting the investment sales team. Prior to joining Stream, she worked with Thackeray Partners and RSF Partners. Caitlin graduated from Southern Methodist University with a degree in Business Administration concentrating in Finance.
Breakfast Groups are small groups of Young Guns representing a cross section of the commercial real estate industry. Groups meet for breakfast to discuss business and build relationships. Must be a Young Guns member to participate. Contact Amy for more information or to sign up.
Goal: To give Young Guns an opportunity to meet and comment in a casual atmosphere to discuss business, current trends and local issues while broadening their business network.
About the Chair: Lindsey Jamar works for Republic Title of Texas as Assistant Vice President/Public Relations. She has experience in corporate communications, copy writing, event planning, public relations and marketing strategies. She is a strong believer that breakfast is the most important meal of the day.
About Town events are held four times a year. Each event begins with an overview of an active development, generally in the form of a presentation by the developer, followed by a construction site tour, and concludes with networking at a venue near the tour site. About Town is an excellent way to preview local development while networking with fellow Young Guns.
Goal: To educate Young Guns on the upcoming developments in the Dallas area.
About the Chair: Caroline Hurley works for MAPP Construction as Business Development Manager - Retail. She has experience in the construction field as well as marketing and communications in the Dallas market. This is Caroline's third year serving on the Young Guns Core Committee.
